The Miss Indian Rodeo Pageant was founded in 1979, three years after the start of the Indian National Finals Rodeo. From its inception, the pageant aimed to provide a stage for young Native American and First Nations women to showcase their horsemanship skills, rodeo knowledge, and commitment to their communities and Indian Country.

Our goal is to help and promote our Indigenous communities by providing a platform that celebrates our unique cultural heritage and traditions. Miss Indian Rodeo is dedicated to fostering a greater appreciation for the diverse traditions and histories that encompass the Western way of life and Indigenous people.
