BRIEF HISTORY OF MISS INDIAN RODEO

The Indian National Finals Rodeo began in 1976 with the mission of developing and growth of Indian Professional Rodeo at an international level for the educational, economic, social, and cultural growth of the Indian people. In the early 80s, the Indian National Finals Rodeo implemented the Miss Indian Rodeo program to become the official ambassador for the Indian National Finals Rodeo, INFR Regions, and all Native American communities across the United States and provinces of Canada.

 

Miss Indian Rodeo represents the great sport of rodeo to the best of her knowledge. The first Miss Indian Rodeo was crowned in 1979 in Salt Lake City and has continued with the following titles: Miss Indian Rodeo, Miss Indian Rodeo of North America, and Miss Indian Rodeo America. The last Miss Indian Rodeo was crowned in 1997 before a short absence in the program, before being reintroduced in 2005. Today, the Miss Indian Rodeo program has continually started to grow in popularity.
